Education - The trending business

Once again the race has begun to get admission in one of the top colleges of the country and just like every year, when the ranking of colleges comes almost every Indian raises a question as to why there is no Indian engineering college in top 200 colleges of the world.
There used to be a time when there were colleges only in India. It is our country, India and its people who taught the whole world how to learn. The education heritage of India is rich but inspite of that we are not able to be in the top 200 colleges of the world,.There needs to be a reason or so behind that as to where are we lagging?
"Everyone wants to be at the top but not everyone reach there."
The fees of engineering colleges viz. IIT's and NIT's are hiked by around 400% in the last 3 years and around 80% in the last year. With such increase in the fees, how can average Indian provide such precious education to their children. The average salary in India is around 320 INR/day which amounts to 1,16,800 INR/year and the fees of engineering college is around 2,00,000 INR/year. How can the middle class provide such education to their children?
In ancient times, education was provided by the gurus and students after getting substantial amount of education moves to the outside world and after that he has to return to their gurus whatever he asks from them. Such kind of education cannot be expected these days. But education should me made accessible to the reach of every one. But the reforms taken by honorable Education minister Mrs. Smriti Irani is doing the opposite.
Even the definition of education is changing day by day. Education from being the means of learning has now transformed into means of earning and this is so because education in a decent and nice college is not a common man's cup of tea.
Being the Placement Coordinator of NIT Kurukshetra, people call me and ask as to which college and branch they should select and when I ask them about their preference, they come with a very casual response as "I can study anything , provided we get good placement". Now the thing is that they don't even know what to study. They only want money no matter whether they are doing something of their choice or not. It is the students who represent the college and the country and the ranking of college depends on the students.
Now if they are doing something that's not of their interest and they are doing just for the sake of money how can they justify themselves when it comes to innovating something and proving their credibility.Instead of following their dreams, students are running for money due to which neither they become good engineers nor they earn money because
"No one will pay you until you are better than him"
So at the end my suggestion is to choose something which you really want to do rather than doing it for the sake of money or just copying others.Because once you are doing something in which you are comfortable, you can get a good job and can earn more than what you are thinking.
There is a famous quote
"Those who are not able to follow their dreams end up fulfilling the dreams of others".
